MADRID (Reuters) - Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa on Friday said U.S. President Joe Biden s promise to tackle climate change had boosted the industry s prospects, identifying more openings for itself in an American market transformed by his election.
Prior to Biden s victory, the United States was expected to add about 10 gigawatt of onshore wind power every year, the company s Chief Executive Andreas Nauen said.
That situation had clearly changed , he added, forecasting opportunities despite a pledge by Biden to buy American-made goods.
The company also said it expected more orders to start coming in to its offshore wind business - a sector it leads but a relatively new one for the United States - after it received none in its first quarter to December.
Even Winnie the Pooh and Batman too would be blown away by the wind gusts since Thursday evening.
On Friday afternoon, more than 1,500 people lost their power in Ocean County with most of the outages,
according to JCP&L, coming in Seaside Park and a few hundred in the Ortley Beach section of Toms River.
The numbers have fluctuated on JCP&L s map all afternoon especially for Seaside Park with the height being around 1,400 without power to around 400.
Toms River OEM Coordinator Paul Daley tells 92.7 WOBM News that as of 4:30 pm that the power out in Ortley Beach is down to a 3-block grid.
Passenger Dies After Truck Blown Off Road Near Casper
A previous version of this story said the driver of the tractor trailer died from his injuries. He was simply transported to Wyoming Medical Center and treated for his injuries. This story has been updated to reflect that. We regret the error.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the driver of a tractor-trailer was injured and his passenger killed west of Casper after his vehicle was blown off the road on Wednesday.
According to a news release, the crash occurred near milepost 106 on Wyoming 22 west of Casper. Troopers were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover at roughly 9:20 a.m.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A chilly day on the South Plains as highs remained in the upper 40s to mid 50s with winds gusting over 25 mph.
The winds will return tomorrow, along with the clouds, however, it will be warmer. I expect afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 60s over most of the area.
It will also remain mostly cloudy as moisture streams into the region ahead of a strong storm system moving this way. That system will bring us a slight chance of isolated showers and storms early Saturday.
